Alan Froggatt joined Richard Ellis in 1971 and acquired a broad experience of professional, agency and investment work, becoming a Partner in 1984.
He opened an office for Richard Ellis in Manchester in 1978, returning to the City of London Team in 1984, where he was involved in a number of high profile agency and investment instructions, in particular leading the firm's extensive involvement with Japanese clients during the late 1980's. He also led the agency team which won the Canary Wharf leasing instruction in early 1994.
He was elected UK Managing Partner in 1995 based on a radical agenda to modernise the firm's structure and expand the business strongly. After incorporating the business in 1997, he was responsible for negotiating the sale to Insignia in 1998 followed by a number of acquisitions and start-ups across Europe including the purchase of St Quintin in 1999, and of Paris-based Bourdais during 2001. He was appointed to the Main Board of NYSE-quoted Insignia Financial Group in 2001.
Following the acquisition of Insignia by CB Richard Ellis, Alan was appointed Chief Executive of the EMEA region, a member of the Global Executive Board and of the Strategic Planning Committee, a position from which he retired in 2005. During his 10 years as Managing Partner or Chief Executive the management team for which he was responsible increased staff numbers by 5x, revenue by 10x and profitability by 30x.
